Tiddles /angry-voice-the-dice-ft-tiddles/ /angry-voice-the-dice-ft-tiddles/#comments Sun, 21 Dec 2014 00:44:24 +0000 /?p=1603 Mmmm….rhythmic sound and intense imagery. I’ll have some of that please! Toss in a side of political lyricism and I think I may swoon! There’s almost nothing better than a song that makes you want to dance and simultaneously kick “the man” in the balls! ‘Angry Voice’ by The Dice Ft. Tiddles does just that.

The Dice is a collaboration project that brings together some of the brightest artists in the urban-electronica field. The music is dark, unique, and idiosyncratic, combining electronic analog sounds with raw guitar and other instruments. The Dice also rotates vocalists, making use of MCs, punk heads, house singers, and soul singers to keep it interesting. This eclectic ensemble is all put together by the very talented Dice Man himself.

‘Angry Voice’ is the result of a collaboration between underground Acid Techno kingpins Chris Liberator and Sterling Moss fused with the politically charged lyrics of an amazing female rapper from London’s punk underbelly, Tiddles. It will get you up, it will get you moving, it will make you think, it may make you…Angry!

Polaris Rose New Album “Telescopes” /polaris-rose-new-album-telescopes/ /polaris-rose-new-album-telescopes/#comments Sat, 20 Dec 2014 23:40:13 +0000 /?p=1589 Nothing is more enthralling than packing a few things, jumping in the car, and embarking on an adventurous road trip! Of course, the actual sitting in the car continuously fidgeting so your booty doesn’t go numb bit of the trip would be pretty boring without some tunes to crank up and sing along with. As someone who drives a lot…to say the least, I was excited to hear Polaris Rose’s single ‘Perfect View’. I thought, “Oooo yay!! A new in the car, relax, and drown out the world song!” Little did I know I would be just as impressed by the rest of their new album, “Telescopes.”

It is very rare that I find an entire album by one artist/band that I can just put on and listen to without skipping a single song, but “Telescopes” is one of those albums. It is so easy to listen to and Polaris Rose offers such a variety of sounds and delicious lyrics that skipping any song would be a grave tragedy and I felt I’d be doing myself a grand injustice. Each song on the album tells a story with its own twists, keeping the listener engaged. I, for one, LOVE finding albums that I can drive to…or play at home and dance around to like a fool in my kitchen (while I’m alone, of course).

The album dropped 11/11/14. Would I recommend this album? You bet I would! Check it out, listen, love it! I know you will!

Faith & Fury: “Lotus Eater” /faith-fury-lotus-eater/ /faith-fury-lotus-eater/#comments Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:12:24 +0000 /?p=1572 Fiona Renshaw’s collaborative efforts with songwriter Andy Platts have forged a fire that even the bitter cold of a London winter (circa 2013), could not put out. “Lotus Eater” is unlike anything I’ve ever heard, and is heavily inspired by Greek Mythology.
Do you recall the tale of men who traveled to an island where they were given lotus flowers to eat, fast becoming engulfed in their narcotic qualities? The genius melodic tone of this song, paired with the dark edged lyrics combine to tell the story in a way that even a book could not; it breathes new life into an old tale.

I listened to the song repeatedly, trying to get a grasp on someone to compare Faith & Fury to, but just when I thought I had a hold on it, and had pinned down similarities to someone else, I’d hear something that would change my mind.

It’s safe to say that this pairing is not only a winner, but is definitely unique.

Give a listen and show them some support!

Butch Walker “21+” /butch-walker-21-featuring-johnny-depp-on-the-album-afraid-of-ghosts/ /butch-walker-21-featuring-johnny-depp-on-the-album-afraid-of-ghosts/#comments Mon, 17 Nov 2014 15:08:37 +0000 /?p=1523 Butch Walker‘s 7th studio album ‘Afraid of Ghosts‘ is set to drop February 3rd on Lojinx and instead of wondering whether or not Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow to forecast the beginning of spring on that day, just grab ‘Afraid of Ghosts’ and keep warm! You won’t care how much longer winter will last if your soul is flushed with the heat and passion that ebbs and flows flawlessly throughout the incredible track ‘21+‘ (and the rest of the Album.) Trust me on this one.

The fact that it features Johnny Depp on guitar certainly doesn’t hurt – I mean, the man is intelligent (yes, I listed that first), beautiful and is from my home state of Kentucky – not too far up the road from my hometown actually – so that’s an added bonus.

HOWEVER, Butch Walker is a force to be reckoned with in his own right and shouldn’t be overlooked by any stretch of the imagination – no, not even next to Johnny.
Butch’s voice is full of emotion, the lyrics are masterful and the song itself as a whole (Riveting guitar accompaniment included) adds up to an eargasm. Take it with whiskey (straight, no chaser) and you have the perfect cure for whatever ails the soul.
If it can’t be soothed by music and liquor, man, it can’t be soothed. Just sayin’.
Go forth and find your inner peace.

Namaste.

Rubato’s “Prelude with Attitude” /rubatos-debut-single-prelude-with-attitude/ /rubatos-debut-single-prelude-with-attitude/#comments Fri, 14 Nov 2014 01:20:42 +0000 /?p=1518 My first impression of the song “Prelude with Attitude” by Rubato, was that it sounded very similar to a track from Phantom of the Opera – and then it got down and dirty. I mean, this song becomes downright sexy. Whoever has said that you have to have lyrics to convey a tone, or get a message across was wrong.
This song tells a story – one of love, of lust, of betrayal, a song of life – all without words.
I’m definitely a fan.

A bio snippet that I received garnered even more of my attention:

RUBATO is a three-piece ensemble from East London who explore the limits of contemporary musicianship. Their debut single ‘Prelude with Atttitude’ is out Nov 23rd and is a re-interpretation of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s ‘Prelude in C Sharp’ with industrial sounds and modern atmospherics. It features Bishi Bhattacharya on vocals (a rising star and pioneer of the New York nu-cabaret scene, much lauded by Yoko & Sean Lennon).

How amazing? Music is a beautiful thing, uniting people the world over. It can be interpreted and re-mastered in so many ways to make it sound new time and again.

Music truly is the universal language.

@raybroweruk

Progressive and powerful little ditty from their forthcoming album “Speaking Truthfully, Thinking Brave.”
A big thanks to @fathippyrecords and @DearJohnHQ for introducing us to Ray Brower!

Crisp, clear sounds of electric madness bolting through your ears, making your brainwaves thrash about your skull!
Just the right amount of all that requires a great band to create an inspiring song that leaves you waiting for the rest that is to come.
A lot of progress can be felt in this band’s principles to put forth their energy and love of hardcore metal.

I, myself, look forward to hearing more from the Ray Brower Band. From start to finish of this single track off their to be released EP, I found myself loving every second and anticipating more.

If you don’t know about these talented guys and their band, then get up and listen up!!

Give this band feedback and show em some love.
Spread the metal!

Mallory Trunnell “Happy” /mallory-trunnell-happy/ /mallory-trunnell-happy/#comments Tue, 11 Nov 2014 16:55:45 +0000 /?p=1507 I love when I get emails from Sera over at Magic Tree Productions and I’m fortunate enough to have a few more to go through.
The song she sent over by Mallory Trunnell “Happy” was a great feel good way to start off my Tuesday morning.
It’s infectious and though this next statement is going to date me, I have to tell you that it was reminiscent of a song from the nineties that you’d have dedicated to your crush at the skating rink. That guy you adored but hated all at the same time. You know what I’m talking about ladies – the guy you loved to pieces, but also wanted to “Punch in the face” as Mallory puts it.

Men are beautiful creatures, but be damned if they aren’t as frustrating as they claim that we are. This artist conveys that and wraps it up in a package that will have you dancing in your seat and singing along with her once you learn the words.
You simply have to add her, and especially this song to your playlist. It’ll get you moving!

Her new Album is out today as well – so go on and purchase “Words” you will NOT be disappointed!

So where can you find this spectacularly awesome song and more information on Mallory?
